Define Sex

I recently had the pleasure of discussing teen romance with my younger brother. I found it delightful when he responded to the topic with this beautiful sentence.

“You’re fifteen, you don’t know what you’re doing with your life, and you will not be with this girl forever!” Truer words were never spoken.

We are emotional basket cases. Everything is a big deal. Everything is dramatic. Everything is against us and so if our lives do not go well for five minutes we act like God hates us. Since we cannot control our own emotions and feelings why then do we surrender them to the opposite sex at such a young age?

I am not saying that dating is entirely wrong. It is an adventure perhaps. You can learn from it and it makes you grow in a positive mature way. However, it is the fundamental practices of our generation that ruin it.

First of all teens, myself included, have no concept of what true love is. We think it is something that just comes and goes. We treat it like a frivolous feeling that can be blown in the wind like the leaves of fall. No! Love is unconditional! If you truly love the person you are dating in such an awkward time of your life than you love them everyday no matter what. Circumstances should not change the way you treat someone.

And because we treat love so poorly more problems arise. Teens tend to rush everything. We all just want to grow up and be our own person. But we fail to acknowledge our own mistakes. Teen dating should be a process of checks and balances there should never be a moment that causes you to compromise who you are and your convictions. You should not have to make the smallest insignificant changes to your opinions just to make a person love you. Changing who you are for someone else is wrong.

Furthermore, wiser choices should be made. Sex before marriage is wrong. Having sex with a girl or guy that you have not made a life-long commitment to is throwing everything away. Most teens blow gaskets when people talk about marriage being forever. What they fail to see is matrimony is an eternal promise that deserves more respect. And if you think you have drama now, then I would say keep away from the bedroom. Sex is not something that can just be taken lightly. I find it hard to understand why a teen who violently changes moods as often as they change socks would lay their entire future down for that minute of pleasure. We waste the most valuable things in life. Why make virginity one of them?

Teen love has guidelines that should be followed. I can personally take a girl to a movie and take her home without worrying about how physical we are because I understand the principals.

Practicing unsafe teen dating and pleasures is practicing for divorce. Ladies and Gents this is not normal.
